Georgetown University Yates Field House
Size: 13,500 SF
Increasing student satisfaction with the Yates Fieldhouse is the key design objective of this concept study. Other objectives include addressing critical space deficiencies for drop-in facilities and providing suitable, dedicated space for fitness and weight training.
The 13,500 SF of additional space includes a new entry lobby and control desk and a 4,300 SF fitness area on the upper level. The lower level includes two 1,600 SF multi-purpose rooms, a social area for students and three international squash courts with tiered spectator seating.
Renovations include limited improvements to the field house, locker rooms, game area and circulation areas. Upgrades include new lighting, finishes and graphics. New windows at the west side of the field house are proposed to provide daylight into the space. Optional features include a bouldering wall, conversion of two existing racquetball courts into a juice bar and meeting room in the upper level, and recreation, intramural and club sports office suites on the lower level.
