Title:

Description:

Trinity University
Center for Women in Sports

The Trinity Center for Women and Girls in Sports is a state-of-the-art athletic, recreational, and educational complex located in the heart of Trinity University’s campus in Northeast Washington.  The Trinity Center is the largest facility in the nation dedicated to women and girls in sports. The center is designed to support Trinity’s students, faculty, staff and citizens in the community.  Trinity also supports local organized athletic and recreation programs conducted by organizations like DC Scores, the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, the Washington Tennis and Educational Foundation and DC Public Schools.

The Trinity Center complex includes a 1,600-seat arena for competition basketball and other indoor court sports like volleyball and soccer. The arena seats 2500 for non-sporting events. This arena accommodates summer camps and weekend programs for DC school children, as well as amateur athletic organizations,  particularly those that focus on sports and wellness for girls and women.

The fitness center includes a variety of workout equipment, dance and aerobics studios and an indoor track.

The Center also includes a six lane, 25-yard swimming pool which is NCAA competition size but is also available for amateur competitions. Locker rooms for both women and men are located on the pool level.

The NCAA competition field hosts soccer, field hockey and lacrosse. In addition to supporting Trinity’s NCAA athletic program, the field is also a venue for outdoor programs, amateur sports and recreational organizations working with children and youth in the Washington region, including Olympic demonstrations and practice.

Six new tennis courts serve Trinity’s tennis team, summer tennis camps and the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation.

Trinity will renovate the existing dining hall to create a true campus center that directly links the interior to the athletic facilities. Phase II will support the athletic facilities with food services, lounges, and a campus store that will serve the Trinity collegiate population as well as persons participating in the events and programs of the Trinity Center for Women and Girls in sports.
