Hughes Group Architects began a six-year process of expanding, rehabilitating and integrating old and new structures at the Hill School into an educational environment of exceptional quality.

At the inception of this project, The Hill School, a private elementary school with 220 students, consisted of several buildings constructed from 1928 to 1982. The age and incremental nature of the plan resulted in a multitude of level changes and a labyrinth of corridors and access points. Virtually all architectural, civil, mechanical and electrical systems were outdated and in need of replacement.

One of the main design challenges was to expand the campus to include a new Performing Arts Center, a Music and Lunch Building, a new Library and a new Administration Building.
