Young Harris College is a small, 600-student Methodist College located in the Appalachian foothills north of Atlanta, Georgia. The Student Recreation Center is designed to provide a wide variety of student life activities and function as a varsity athletic venue.

Flexibility is the keynote of the proposed design. Each program area is designed to accommodate a multiplicity of functions including basketball, soccer, volleyball, track, yoga classes, dance classes, summer camps and special convocation events.

The siting of the building compliments the College Master Plan and the exterior forms and materials have been designed blend the facility into the existing campus fabric. Exterior openings are positioned to harvest daylight and provide magnificent views while reducing energy loads with the use of solar shading devices.

Sustainable features of this LEED Certified facility include the utilization of regional and renewable materials, resources for alternative transportation, water efficient fixtures and improved indoor air quality.
